We are pleased to announce the date for CPNB 2014, which will take place on Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th February 2014, and invite offers of "Papers" (Platform presentations) and Posters.

The closing date for offers of Papers is 30 April 2013.

CPNB 2014 ("The Dundee Conference")will be the foremost Conference concerning environmental management and crop protection and associated topics in northern environments.

The Dundee Conference covers Agri-environmental and Economic Aspects, Combinable Crops, and Potatoes.

There is a specially discounted rate for Students.


CPNB 2014 is organised by The Association for Crop Protection in Northern Britain, a non-profit making Registered Charity which brings together The James Hutton Institute, Scotland's Rural College, Scottish Agricultural Science Agency, SNH and the agricultural trade in Scotland.

There will be five sessions of invited papers and research reports with ample time for discussion. There will also be two poster sessions. The Conference has been allocated Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points towards the BASIS Professional Register.

The aim of the Conferenceis to bring together farmers, agricultural and horticultural advisers, the technical staff of the agricultural chemical trade and all those concerned with recent advances in chemical and non-chemical crop protection, including advisory, research and government organisations, to discuss crop protection problems prevalent in northern environments. In addition to those from Scotland, northern England and Northern Ireland, the Conference will be of relevance to many others in Northern Europe.

CPNB 2014 will have a wide-ranging programme, including platform and poster sessions on the following areas:

  • Cropping systemsand environmental interactions
  • Soils and Water Protection
  • Impact of Rural Development Programme
  • Sustainability and impact of EU legislation
  • All aspects of crop protectionin cereals, potatoes, and other combinable crops
  • Application of new technologyfor diagnostics and integrated crop and pest management
  • New products

Invited review papers from eminent scientists and practitioners in the UK will be included in the programme.

Offers of "Papers" (Platform presentations) and Posters are now invited. Please complete the online "Offer a Paper or Poster" Form

The Proceedings of CPNB 2014 have been generously sponsored by Bayer CropScience, and will be published in time for the meeting at a cost of £30 for those attending the conference, with the opportunity for all speakers to publish a 6-page paper (8-page for Invited Speakers). Those presenting Posters are also invited to publish a paper in the Proceedings.

Venue and Costs

Crop Protection in Northern Britain 2014is being held at the West Park Conference Centre, Dundee, on 25 - 26 February 2014. Delegates will be welcome to attend the Conference on either one or both days, at a cost of £90.00 per day, including lunch, venue, and registration charges. There are special concession rates for Students (£45).
