SPot Farm North - Somerby Top Farm, Barnetby, North Lincolnshire.

22 March 2018

Somerby Top farm is mixed arable farm in North Lincolnshire, is the newest Strategic Potato (SPot) Farm. On-farm events will begin in June.

The farm grows around 440 ha of main-crop potatoes for the packing market each year, in a rotation including peas, sugar beet, wheat, oilseed rape and linseed. It becomes the fifth active SPot Farm in Great Britain.

The farm spans the Lincolnshire/Yorkshire border and includes two soil types, a sandy loam on the Lincolnshire Wolds and silts on the Isle of Axholme. This will add an interest and widen the appeal of the SPot Farm, as growers from both counties will be able to view demonstrations relevant to them.
