Kicking off the proceedings, AHDB Potatoes’s Adrian Briddon, from Sutton Bridge Crop Storage Research, will review the 2012 storage season, discuss CIPC stewardship and provide analysis of exceedances, to help you to prepare for this year’s store loading campaign.

CUF’s David Firman, will give a presentation on the Grower Collaboration project. David will discuss the results, learnings and successes of AHDB Potatoes-funded depth of destoning, nitrogen and seed rate trials, which have been conducted by growers around the country.

Following on you will have a chance to look at machinery displays by George Moate, Grimme and Standen and see a working demonstration of a new vision system that can control potato volunteers in carrots, onions and leek crops. Soil Moisture Sense will be on site discussing a range of irrigation scheduling equipment and the results from the field site.

You will have a chance to view plots of the leading varieties and new developments available from Branston, Caithness, Cygnet, Fenmarc, Greenvale, Grampian Growers, IPM and KWS.

During the field plot session David Hudson Potato Services Ltd will demonstrate fertiliser application methods and timing; Barworth Agriculture and Branston will show their Biofumigation and trap crop trials; Syngenta will demonstrate different defoliation and seed treatments; and Bayer, Frontier and Hutchinsons will evaluate in-furrow treatments.

Attendees will have plenty of opportunity for discussion and networking over an informal lunch at 12.30pm. This is timed at the end of the morning session and at the start of the repeated afternoon programme.
