Follow postcode. IP24 3TP, Brandon Rd, Elveden, Thetford.  The venue will be sign posted from the Elveden Inn.
Please note that we are meeting at an outside venue and suitable wet weather clothes may be needed.


  • 12:30 Registration, coffee, tea and bacon rolls.
  • 13:15 Welcome and introduction.  Graham Bannister, AHDB Knowledge exchange Manager. Board trailers for both trials.
  • 13:30 Nitrogen (N) and black dot control.  Mark Stalham – NIAB CUF. This experiment seeks to understand the relationships between N rate and time of defoliation and harvest on black dot infection post-storage in a susceptible variety.  The hypotheses are: a) reducing N increases the risk of black dot infection; b) delaying time from defoliation to harvest increases the risk of black dot development in store; c) reducing N increases the risk of bruising at harvest.
  • Time TBC Variety & PCN Resistance & Tolerance Trial.  Graham Tomalin - VCS This trial follows on from, and aims to build on, the 2016 Spot Farm East Variety & PCN (G. pallida) Resistance & Tolerance Trial. To compare the tolerance and resistance of 8 new to market or near to market potato varieties with G.pallida resistance(partial) to 4 known commercial varieties through yield and soil PCN analysis.
  • Time TBC Trap cropping. James klug from Produce Solutions will be on hand to discuss the trap crops being grown next to the PCN trial.
  • 16:00 Closing, feedback forms and an opportunity to question the speakers involved and depart.
