The first open visit to SPot West at Heal Farms will be on 6th June, between 2-4pm.

Heal Farms is an estate of arable crops and poultry, growing about 500ha of potatoes each year. Due to historical problems with Potato Cyst Nematodes, or PCN, and Parasitic Free Living Nematode (FLN), Farm Manager, Matthew Wallace wants to develop his understanding of both diseases throughout 2017.

This opening event will see Dr Matt Back of Harper Adams University give us an insight in to PCN and how it can be controlled.  As one of the authors of AHDB’s new PCN Management Guide, which will be released this summer, Dr Back will be on hand to give advice and take your questions on infestation control

As an introduction to each trial and their treatment, this event will give you a detailed description of our on farm demonstrations, which include:

·         Two variety resistance/tolerance trials

·         Trap crops

·         Mycorrhizal inoculation

·         Foliar feeds

·         and the new Bayer nematicide

A more detailed agenda will be available in due course

The nearest postcode is for Blakely Court Farm, SY4 4ND, from where there will be signs to the field, Lodge 1.
