With their first year under their belt, Farm Manager, Matthew Wallace will be providing a fresh focus on research carried out at Heal Farms in Shropshire last season.

This year we are looking at PCN, with a particular focus on nematicides. This will provide a basis for research in to alternative approaches for incorporation and nematicide combinations, which benefit both the environment as well as production yield.

Outline for the afternoon

Syngenta and Farm Manager, Matthew Wallace - In Furrow application

The furrow application topic will allow associates of Syngenta and Farm Manager at Heal Farms, Matthew Wallace the opportunity to discuss alternative methods of applying liquid fungicides in furrow, which will help growers decide on the best method in their individual situations.

A Heal Farm planter will be present, which will allow attendees to see crucial parts of the demonstration. 

Nozzle choice for blight fungicide applications

This practical demonstration will allow growers decide which type of nozzles are best suited for sprayer for blight fungicide application and to acess the aeffct of boom height and forward speed.

Dr Matthew Back, Harper Adams University - Nematicide incorporation and fluopyram demonstrations

Dr Matt Back of HAU will be showcasing his research in to the most cost-effective use of nematicide and fluopyram, Matt's study will compare existing farm practice with that suggested by findings, and other potential alternatives

Event Location

The field is on the A53, 12 miles north of Shrewsbury. The postcode SY4 4ND in some sat-navs may direct visitors away from the A53, but the entrance is directly off this main road.

Coming from the south the field is nearly one mile from the side road signed to Stanton Upon Hind Heath.

From the north the field is about four miles from the A53/A442 roundabout.

Enter Lodge Farm gate off A53 and park on verges as directed.

For those who visited last year, Lodge 2 field is adjacent to where last year’s demonstrations were held.
