Same town, new venue – GB potato industry’s main event BP2015

23 April 2015

This November, BP2015 moves to a new home but stays in the same north Yorkshire town of Harrogate, familiar to over 6,000 growers, packers, processors, retailers, researchers, specialists, consultants, journalists, students and international visitors who regularly attend.

Jointly sponsored by Branston and Grimme, BP2015 takes place on 12 and 13 November at its new venue, the Harrogate International Centre (HIC).  A spacious, custom-built convention centre in the centre of town which provides space for our industry’s main event to expand.

BP is the event dedicated to the GB potato industry, which is worth £4.1bn to the GB economy.  Held every two years, the whole GB supply-chain joins together under one roof.

The event provides an opportunity a chance to catch up with colleagues and friends, gauge the mood, get updates on markets and trade, check the competition and get the latest on innovations in our progressive and fast-moving industry.  So whether you trade, pack, process or market potatoes, there will be a wealth of things to see, ideas to discuss and new contacts to make.

The new venue allows this key event to expand, with space for every organisation and piece of machinery a potato grower could wish to see, and well over 200 of Europe's leading companies are expected to exhibit.  Over the two days deals will be struck, key contacts made and acquaintances renewed.

BP2015 gold sponsor Branston is one of the UK’s largest buyers, packers and distributors of potatoes and is looking forward to meeting up with growers on its stand at the new venue.

“Branston has been delighted to sponsor BP for several years, and we are very much looking forward to this year’s event,” explains James Truscott, Branston’s managing director.

“We consider this event to be the most important in the UK potato industry.  The increased attendance and content this year will give us an even greater platform to interact with our suppliers and customers from across the UK and overseas.  The last two years have seen fresh challenges thrown at the industry and we’ve been working on a range of initiatives.  Seeing everyone at Harrogate this November will be an excellent opportunity to showcase some of our recent developments as well as discussing the future direction of GB potatoes.”

Long-term event supporter and joint BP2015 gold sponsor Grimme (UK) is the market leader in potato planting, harvesting and handling machinery, and they are looking forward to showcasing their machinery at the event.

Grimme’s sales director Barry Baker says, “Harrogate this year – in its new home – will be an excellent opportunity for growers and farm managers to examine and discuss machinery requirements up close. It’s the perfect opportunity to find economic, productive and cost effective planting, harvesting and handling equipment for your farm business.”

We keep increasing capacity for the Industry Dinner and it keeps selling out! This year's move brings more space, and the great new venue, including the spectacular Harrogate Royal Hall, means demand will be higher than ever – so be sure to book early to avoid disappointment.

Ensure this event is in your and your team’s diary and secure your accommodation soon.  Harrogate town is easy to reach and BP2015 is the perfect time for your whole team to network, learn, meet old friends and make new acquaintances at the most focused potato industry event in GB.
