There are more events for you to attend this year than ever before, offering you a chance to discuss key subjects with independent experts, AHDB team members and other growers.

You can find the right event for you via our new events portal. Where you can search by sector and/or location and register direct from the website.

Events

Exhibitions, large field events and conferences

Yorkshire Variety Day – 31 July

In partnership with Whole Crop Marketing, a field based event with variety trials, demos and seminar programme.

Potatoes in Practice, Dundee – 8 August

Potatoes in Practice is the largest field-based potato event in the UK. The event brings together variety demonstrations, research and trade exhibits in one place.

Yorkshire Variety Day and Potatoes in Practice are the two most potatoes focussed events of the 'Arable Connections' series. Though all events int he series will ahve content relevant to potato growers. The other events take place between 18 June, and 4 July across the country, find out more at https://ahdb.org.uk/events/ 

Potato Europe, Belgium – 4 and 5 September

AHDB host a British stand at this international potato trade show, this year in Belgium. If you're interested in our activity at the show, please contact margaret.skinner@ahdb.org.uk

Consumer Insight Conference – 25 September

The trends that affect our sector, delivered by Kantar, IDG and other independent experts

BP2019, Harrogate – 20 and 21 November

AHDB is again knowledge exchange partner for the event, running the seminar programme and showcasing our services form a large central stand.

Agronomists Conference – 3 and 4 December

The latest from our Arable research programme presented to agronomists and growers.

Strategic Potato Farm East, Outgoing host: Elveden Farms Ltd., Incoming host: James Foskett Farms Ltd., Suffolk

Both farms will host events this summer, before James Foskett Farms officially become SPot hosts in September.

Dates for the diary:

  • Field walk and storage update (James Foskett Farms) - 18 July
  • Desiccation demo (Elveden Farms) - Date TBC August/September (based on crop progress)

Strategic Potato Farm Scotland - Bruce Farms, Meigle, Blairgowrie, Perthshire

Hosts – Geoff Bruce and Kerr Howatson

Strategic Potato Farm North – RJ and AE Godfrey, Brigg, North Lincolnshire

Hosts – Alex Godfrey and Will Gagg

Demonstration topics

  • Residual herbicides trial (fully replicated trial)
  • Irrigation methods – taking into account financial and marketable yield (demonstration)
  • Organic matter (demonstration)
  • Desiccation – agricultural chemical and mechanical (two fully replicated trials)
  • Dormancy and Maleic Hydrazide (fully replicated trial)

  • Field walk – 15 August
  • Haulm destruction day – date to be confirmed depending on the season

Monitor Farm Events

Though they began in the Cereals and Oilseeds sector, Monitor Farm events, with their strong business focus, are relevant for all arable farmers. Potato growers are encouraged to attend.
