A fascination for mechanised sided of the potato industry…
Andrew from a farming family was involved in potatoes from an early age and has a fascination in mechanisation and the influences it can have on productivity.
“It’s such a passionate industry which demands so much commitment from individuals, but I don’t believe there’s a more rewarding job,” says Andrew.
After completing his Agriculture and Land Management degree at Hartpury College, Andrew gained as much practical experience as possible.
“I originally worked for a machinery dealer demonstrating and looking after the service side of Grimme equipment, but subsequently joined the sales division.”
Grimme UK Ltd is a joint sponsor of BP2013 and Andrew will be attending for his third time to support his UK and Ireland Sales Team.
“Everybody and anybody involved in spuds attends BP2013,” says Andrew. “Mainly from the UK and Ireland, but often I’ll talk to delegates from around the world. It’s a good opportunity to catch up with customers away from the office, but still on a professional level, where we can mull over the years events and discuss new opportunities.”
“It’s not just sales finesse that sells a product, it practical experience too. The potato business is very much a peoples industry.”
