Nicole Gourlay, 26, procurement coordinator, Scottish Borders.

A love for procurement and trading…

Nicole studied applied Bioscience at the Scottish Agricultural College and was accepted on the Greenvale AP graduate development programme in 2008.

“I started as a seed assistant in Perthshire, before moving to the Scottish Borders to work as a fieldsperson,” explains Nicole. “I then moved to our packing site in Shropshire to gain experience in procurement.”

Prior to her final placement, Nicole accepted a permanent position as assistant technical procurement manager, in Suffolk.  She has now moved back to Scotland for her current challenge, looking after a dedicated grower group, where she manages their stocks, contracts, trading and coordinates the raw material requirements for the factory.

“I started looking for jobs in my final year at University, but it took me three months of full time hunting and attending various interviews before I got the offer from Greenvale.

“My career aspirations were in agronomy, but as I have progressed in the business I have I felt particularly suited to procurement and trading.”

“I’m looking forward BP2013, it’s a great opportunity to socialise with our suppliers, network with customers, and to keep up to date with new developments.”
