Greg Colebrook

8 June 2015
Greg Colebrook, 22, assistant potato production manager, Cambridgeshire / Norfolk
Carrying on the family tradition…
Potatoes aren’t a new venture for Greg. He grew up on an estate where his father was farm manager, in North Lincolnshire, that produced a range of crops including potatoes.
But applying for an advert in the Farmers Weekly jobs section in Spring 2013 at Spearhead Marketing Ltd, was the Newcastle Agriculture graduate’s way into his own role in the industry.
“The structure, training, experience and being part of a team that embraces best practice and the latest technology was why I was attracted to the business,” explains Greg. “My role requires broad management skills, such as attention to detail, planning and timeliness.”
Working within the Greens of Soham group for Spearhead Marketing enables Greg to see production from seed right through to marketing the crop.
Greg views BP2013 as being critical to his personal development. “I’ll be busy looking at new equipment for next season, finding out about CIPC regulation and how to best future proof our storage system. I’m keen to learn more about getting effective nematacide application and improving our sampling techniques. It’s important to be at BP2013 to see the new innovations that are hitting the market place,” concludes Greg.
