Belgian processors remain hungry for supplies - May 2019

With stocks low across continental Europe, prices have remained firm in the processing markets. Most processors continue to rely on contracted stock where possible, and traded volumes of free-buy are reportedly low. The exception to this remains Belgium, with processors drawing in supplies from across Europe.

UK exports to the continent have remained strong with shortfalls in stocks increasing demand for packing and processing material. From the trade captured in Potato Weekly exported volumes appear to mostly be of Scottish origin. The majority of fresh packing varieties seem to be heading to France and Eastern Europe.
