Potato Weekly - 24 January 2020

Publication Date:
24 January 2020

  • There has been some lifting progress around the country this week with some slightly drier weather. However, it has remained very slow and the material coming out of ground will be of questionable quality.
  • Later-lifted material in store is starting to show further problems. Some stores are starting to see further increased rots and breakdown causing some growers to move material sooner than anticipated.
  • Trade is generally steady with chipping demand usually subdued in January. Packers and processors seem to be mostly working off contracted supplies leaving limited room for free-buy trade.
