Potato Weekly - 25 January 2019

Publication Date:
25 January 2019

Trade continued at a slow pace in GB potato markets this week, with little demand reported. With no pick up in volumes moved, prices have remained steady for most. However, increased pressure has been reported for lower value packing material.

  • Continued slow trade was reported this week in the English packing market, with demand lacking. With little new activity, prices have been under pressure slightly for lower quality samples but good quality material remains supported.
  • Trade for Scottish packers remained quiet and mostly unchanged on the week. Movement into English markets continues. Prices have remained flat on the week.
  • Bag market trade was reportedly slow this week, with demand and volumes moved both reportedly lower than an average January. Prices for chipping supplies remain firm for best quality samples.
