Potato Weekly - Friday 23 March 2018
Trade saw a lull for some in England this week, whilst trade in Scotland remained steady. Prices were generally steady for most in England, with a slight fall reported in Scotland. Quality appears to be holding up in stores, with planting underway for some when conditions allow.
- After a pick-up in trade last week, trade slowed this week with market price ranges generally remaining flat.
- The movement of packing potatoes in Scotland this week remained steady, although prices for average quality samples did see a fall for some, encouraging trade to England. Good quality washing material was reported to be in demand.
- There were scattered reports of increased movement in the bag market in the run up to Easter, though for many trade remained at similar levels to the previous week. Demand for limited best quality supplies has meant that top end prices for the very best samples have crept up again this week.
