Potato Weekly - Friday 27 April 2018

Publication Date:
27 April 2018

Warm, dry weather at the start of the week allowed for good planting progress for some, while towards the end of the week further work was hindered by localised, often heavy, showers. With further rain forecast for the weekend, delays are likely to continue for many.

  • English packing movement has held steady this week, with many prices remaining similar. There are odd reports of best quality free-buy material moving at higher prices.
  • Trade continued at a slow pace in Scotland, with white varieties remaining abundant but in low demand as quality generally deteriorates. However, good quality M Piper continues to be in high demand.
  • More marked regional differences reported in the bag market this week, with reports of rising prices in the East encouraging increased demand from the West.
