Green manures – implications of economic and environmental benefits on rotational management
Green manures, also referred to as fertility building crops, may broadly be defined as crops grown for the benefit of the soil. This factsheet will help growers to appreciate the financial implications of green manure use and the potential for computer models to help integrate them effectively into rotations. It draws on the findings of a number of projects funded by AHDB, Defra and the EU. It includes -
- Costs of growing green manures
- The role of computer models (or decision support systems) in rotational planning
- Sources of further information for green manures
